Regularly about 60 hours+. Not all of that time is recorded, a fair amount talking to folks in the hall, shooting shit with colleagues.

40 hours. Rarely more.

Pre-COVID you were promised a raise to come in June to accompany the smaller raise and promotion you got in January. Now, your company is like every other company - combating layoffs and going through raise and hiring freezes; which makes the opportunity for that raise look pretty impossible. The thing is, the job you’re doing is at least two levels above what your promotion brought you to and you feel like you’re doing twice the work for half the pay. What do you do?

So I was selected to serve in an organization with 2 chairs. We were told that we would have an in person conference next week for 2 days. Then, covid happened. About to start a new job (in PE) next Monday. I came down with Covid on the Thurs before and am very fevered and feeling like crap/ haven’t left bed. I don’t think I can start on Monday (best case I muddle through but not a good first impression) . And due to Covid we are without childcare next week (nanny has it too). Do you think it’s reasonable to ask to push my start date back by a week? Or other suggestions?

Anyone else tire of the “plant mom” and “dog dad” me too conversation? It seems to be more frequent. For example, company says, “Parents, please share pictures of working from home with your kids during Covid” for a diversity and inclusion project. Undoubtedly someone responds, “what about my plant babies? 🤣”. I don’t want sympathy but I find it childish. Just give us the courtesy of understanding that plants and pets are not the same. Stop “me too’ing”

I got hired to be the SME on a particular tech platform at my current company. I have more experience on it than my boss does, yet during a code review, he insisted that I delete a section of code that was perfectly functional and shippable and swap in his preferred code. Two hours later, he figured out that the reason why there were more than a few compiler errors in the code was because my code actually worked… smh.

Would anyone know where I can get a large list of LMM funds? I’m a consultant and looking to break in through networking but it’s hard to find these funds.

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

Hi! My husband and I are considering a geographic move from the NE to the SE (Atlanta, specifically). I’ve done preliminary research into the job market and I’m curious what the culture around hours is respective of the lower salaries I’m seeing. For instance, I typically work 1900-2100 hours a year on cravath’s scale + year end bonus. I’m also told the large Atlanta firms expect 1900-2000. So how do they justify the comp reduction? Is it not a “true” 1900? No flak if you don’t hit it?
