Ever since the firm informed me that my salary would be reduced by 20% due to coronavirus’s impact on collections, my workload has increased at least 20%. I’m struggling not to be salty. Thoughts?
I am so over the politics of an agency. I knew it was bad but didn’t expect it to be this bad when I signed up to be an SVP. Exacerbated by covid. Anyone else?
Do any real people actually want schools to reopen as it stands now? Im hearing so much about it but it feels like a weird disconnected political thing and not a live humans with kids thing.
*Obv the goal is to get covid under control so kids can go back safely, this is assuming infection rates stay steady or continue to climb
Is ADD a valid intellectual / development disability? Asking because NY will now let people in that category get covid vaccinations.
Semi-retired grandfather looking for position as part-time HR assistant. Went back to school during COVID, and I’m ready to contribute.
Hi! I’m a rising senior looking to apply for MBB ft. I’m having a hard time with office selections. How did you select yours? I’m international and don’t have family anywhere in the States so location really doesn’t make a difference. Industry wise, I’m interested in consumer/fashion, tech, industrial and energy (so pretty much everything except for healthcare lol). Furthermore, with COVID going on, when are you guys expected to return to onsite client office? If I choose NY would I actually hav
How has dating been in the world of COVID?
Me and my girlfriend both live in the same city, working from home, living with our respective families.
Before covid and wfh, we were in gurgaon and we used to go to each other's places to have some "private time"
It looks like a distant luxury now.
Any ideas of what can be done? Anyone facing a similar issue who got any resolution?
Pre-COVID you were promised a raise to come in June to accompany the smaller raise and promotion you got in January. Now, your company is like every other company - combating layoffs and going through raise and hiring freezes; which makes the opportunity for that raise look pretty impossible. The thing is, the job you’re doing is at least two levels above what your promotion brought you to and you feel like you’re doing twice the work for half the pay. What do you do?
Going to India in a week for first time visa stamping. Are there any restrictions at this point? President proclamation, covid closures etc.
Apparently Canadians are jealous of the U.S vaccine rollout. Who can blame them? Since we got rid of the Orange Cheeto, things have been looking up! 🎉 https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2021/04/02/faster-covid-19-vaccination-rollout-in-us-is-prompting-jab-jealousy-in-canada.html

Are there any investment funds hiring fundamental analysts right now? (Currently work at a long biased fund but was aiming to move over the next 12 months before covid)
Anyone else’s hotel loyalty screwed due to no travel from lockdowns? I was titanium on Marriott pre-Covid but had virtually no travel opportunity from casework start of year due to domestic case and then lockdown hit (when I was staffed interstate..) I’m a solid 9 nights away from maintaining platinum/34 nights from maintaining titanium - is there any opportunity to get special exceptions for status preservation? Anyone?
So I was selected to serve in an organization with 2 chairs. We were told that we would have an in person conference next week for 2 days. Then, covid happened. Then, reopening, etc. We were told the conference may or may not be virtual. The members followed up with the chairs a month out and were told we would be told whether it was virtual or not. Crickets. Follow up again 2 weeks out. Told they would email that day. Again crickets. Is it wrong as a mom with young kids that I think this is sup
About to start a new job (in PE) next Monday. I came down with Covid on the Thurs before and am very fevered and feeling like crap/ haven’t left bed. I don’t think I can start on Monday (best case I muddle through but not a good first impression) . And due to Covid we are without childcare next week (nanny has it too). Do you think it’s reasonable to ask to push my start date back by a week? Or other suggestions?
Anyone else tire of the “plant mom” and “dog dad” me too conversation? It seems to be more frequent. For example, company says, “Parents, please share pictures of working from home with your kids during Covid” for a diversity and inclusion project. Undoubtedly someone responds, “what about my plant babies? 🤣”. I don’t want sympathy but I find it childish. Just give us the courtesy of understanding that plants and pets are not the same. Stop “me too’ing”
Does anyone have book suggestions for developing leadership skills in the workplace or on navigating corporate/business world in general?
Any reviews on Travelers client's project in LTI, like how is the work life balance and team ?
What should we expect for learning ?
Do you and your spouse have your Roth IRAs in the same funds, or different ones? Do you go one with VTI and the other VT, or VOO/VOOG or something similar but different? Or really diversify?
I got hired to be the SME on a particular tech platform at my current company. I have more experience on it than my boss does, yet during a code review, he insisted that I delete a section of code that was perfectly functional and shippable and swap in his preferred code. Two hours later, he figured out that the reason why there were more than a few compiler errors in the code was because my code actually worked… smh.
Would anyone know where I can get a large list of LMM funds? I’m a consultant and looking to break in through networking but it’s hard to find these funds.
I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

Got an offer for an in-house role and they only have 10 days off for vacation with a few days additional for sick time off.
For me it’s a major concern, has anyone successfully negotiated additional vacation time and if they have how did they go about it. Was it a successful outcome ?

Just found out that not everyone in my office is "sold" on the vaccine. Meanwhile, I'm going to be first in line having a pre-existing condition and family members that are high risk. I, apparently wrongly, assumed that the question of vaccination wouldn't have even arisen in my small legal office, but here I am freaked out about the future...
When will I find my passion? I’m a criminal prosecutor chasing PSLF (5 years left). I am just not that into it. My wife is a teacher and loves her job so much she could work 16 hour days. I am jealous. My passion is my family and my job is just a paycheck. How can I figure out what I really want to do? Do I want to get that obsessed with work? Help!
Anyone transitioned from employment defense to plaintiff’s side class actions? Any regrets?

When is it normal to start taking depositions for a new(er) associate? Entering 3rd year at midsize firm.
How does everyone handle managing their caseload and utilizing their paralegal(s)? I litigate primarily, with occasional small transactional projects that come up in the course of those files. It’s usually real estate related—drafting a purchase agreement, deed, etc. My firm is not one where we specialize so much that each case has the same process as every other case. So it often feels like I’m having to tackle something brand new in each and every case. (cont.)
Hi! My husband and I are considering a geographic move from the NE to the SE (Atlanta, specifically). I’ve done preliminary research into the job market and I’m curious what the culture around hours is respective of the lower salaries I’m seeing. For instance, I typically work 1900-2100 hours a year on cravath’s scale + year end bonus. I’m also told the large Atlanta firms expect 1900-2000. So how do they justify the comp reduction? Is it not a “true” 1900? No flak if you don’t hit it?
Tips for becoming more independent as you progress from junior to midlevel? I am starting to be put into the position of just having to handle things including drafting and could use some advice from others.
