I think that if you are a first year teacher, you will have to spend more time as everything is new. If you teach the same grade next year, you can keep your lesson plans from this year to refer to. I always look back at previous years' plans (same grade level), but I do change things as needed if I thought that something did not work well, or if I find a new idea that I want to try.

I follow this schedule: on Mondays, I plan for about 30 minutes for the following week. On Tuesdays, I finish preliminary planning and gathering resources. On Wed., I make copies. On Thursdays, I finalize plans in my online planbook. On Fridays, I tie up any loose ends. The time each day depends on my grade level, my experience, and the content.

I have 7 preps so I plan for my week each Sunday morning. Daily reflection at the end of the day go into my LP book so that the following year I know what worked and what did not. Have to adjust at times but that is the nature of the beast. I want a life too!

For those who’ve used TTP Verbal. Approx. how many hours did it take you to complete all lessons/get through the material? For additional context, Started studying 8/30 and I’m 33% through the Quant material (includes all readings, questions throughout the readings, and some of the “easy”practice tests. I have 7 weeks of studying left so trying to plan how much time I can leave for verbal. Thanks!

What do you think that the education system needs to do, to get young people to be better prepared with challenges in life? For example, I grew up in Malaysia, national secondary schools had home science lessons, where we learnt from ironing to cooking to carpentry to sewing to plumbing to soldering on a circuit board where we did individually or in teams. To me, these skills altogether prepped me with a lifelong ‘Swiss Army knife’! Anyone with children with ideas?

As someone who never plans/wants to get married or have kids, I know I’ll never get back the money I spent on my friends’ weddings, bachelor parties, kids birthdays etc. I know that and I was fine with it because they’re my friends. But last weekend, I didn’t bring a gift to my friend’s kid’s 8th birthday party. Not cause I didn’t want to, but just ran out of time and honestly I don’t know what 8year olds are in to and I’ll just give the parents a gift cards later (cont)
