I got sick this week at the client site and I’ve been camping at the hotel. I’ve got a nasty cough, should I wear a mask on the flight? I really don’t want to get anyone sick.
Have spent the first 3 weeks on a new project without an SM and one just joined in the past two days and they have already been so helpful. Just feeling grateful for their enthusiasm and help!
My client is jean friendly. I usually wear dress pants but my all male team keeps asking why I don't wear jeans and encourages jeans because of the culture. Women's jeans are usually tight And probably not work appropriate and I don't want to wear baggy mom jeans. Thoughts? Are skinny jeans okay? If not, what is?
Just landed in airport nearest client city but the rental car agency (hertz) is closed. Client and hotel are a one hour drive. Am I able to even pick up a car at this point?
Just received an email written in all caps with a sparkly image as the background. I didn't realize my grandma worked for my client
New project in new city. Earliest flight out on Monday morning would have me land at 11am in client city, on site around noon. Should I fly in Sunday night?
So I accidentally sent a workpaper to a client that had pm disclosed on it. How screwed am I actually? And what is the best way to remediate it?
Just got slotted for a mind numbing role. My Manager is thrilled cuz it’s billable and I’ll be off his mind for the next 9 months. Silver lining: client has a gym on-site...maybe it will keep me sane🤞🏼
I want to reach out to an ex-client about an opening in their team. We are not actively working with that client now. Any thoughts?
My client is dead-set on cutting salaries and putting everyone in his company on PIPs, and wants us to come up with processes so that people don’t just quit. Lord help me.
Do you charge your time to BD or Project code for on boarding activities (e.g. calls, reviewing materials) ? Prior to getting to the client site.
Through the eyes of a creative, what makes an effective creative brief? What parts do you always need, and what parts do you tend to gloss over?
Found an onboarding deck made by another consulting firm on the client SP - when taking some info to repurpose I noticed this random blank box - before deleting it I changed the font and it said
I love when individuals say they don’t harbor any misogyny or bias against women, but when something goes wrong on an account or when the client isn’t being the best, it’s always the woman’s fault.
How have you all dealt with people you really dislike on your project? I've been lucky for the most part but now there are 4 girls who make me want to shoot myself every time I hear them talk 🙄😩
Who else thought it was hilarious when Dan Helfrich was like, "If you're stuck on a long-term project you don't want to be on, e-mail me!"? 😒😒😒
How do you all manage the months when you couldn't travel every week (doctor's rec) but were not yet on maternity leave? Given my industry focus and home office, I have very limited local project options. Did anyone go internal for 1-2 years and how did that play out for promotion?
I'm being staffed on a lot of tech implementation PMO, and I feel like I contribute some value to the project but I'm not building up career skills so much as I'm being a human network router for a bunch of different people. What skills can I spend this time consciously developing that will make a real difference in my career long term? Agile/SCRUM knowledge? Communication/people skills?
When the project is forcing you to take thanksgiving week off but you don't have any plans in place 🙍🏽♂️
How many of y’all have access to online meeting software and which ones? Do you plan on using these more during the Coronavirus scare? To be clear: I’m not scared, just wondering how folks will adapt.
We got to rethink our food habits with this pandemic & to prevent one in the future. Have to see how big the vegan & veg culture is going to be after this!
Anyone hiring in London? SM with 6.5 years of experience, 3.5 at B4, 3 at Strat boutique. Experience in org / cost. Looking for exit to another boutique ideally (one with some brand recognition)
Is the jump in salary from an advisory s3 to manager even worth the additional work/responsibilities? What were your % salary increases?
Is it acceptable practice to ask to be shown the SOW before accepting a potential new role or is that considered rude or too forward?
First time flying out of IAD on a Monday morning, how close to your departure time to you typically arrive (w/ pre-check)?
Anyone else in a technical role ever feel that their consultancy skills are decaying? I was so much better at presentations/BSing in uni but after doing pretty much exclusively technical work ...
I was asked to interview for a start up, it’s remote, and 20+ hours a week. I’m considering it because I’m not sure what I want my next move to be and seems like could be a good in between. Thoughts?
Help! Got an offer to start on Oct 19th (non-consulting), but I just found out i got a MBB interview. Do I go ahead and accept the offer? The company knows I’m in the midst of other interviews. what’s the best way to keep my options open??
Currently in industry. Got an offer to go back into public for a 10,000 raise. Current employer offered raise of 5,000 plus an already promised bonus to equal the 10,000. So it is now a lateral...
How do schools feel about you jumping from a management consulting firm to startup if that startup fails badly after you join? I’m sure you could spin it as a learning experience but will that really work when you’re being compared against people from MBB/PE/FAANG?
I transferred internally to a practice where I am miserable. My old role has opened up again and there is interest in me returning. I would probably just go for it but I may have a much (cont’d)
Exit ops for Sr. associates who were analyst promotes?...Took the gig but now feeling like I don't know what I'm doing.
Contemplating moving from Chicago to the Bay Area. Household TC is ~375k. We have a toddler as well. Both our jobs would allow us to relocate at the same salary. Wanted to get advise on what to expect in terms of change in standard of living (3 bed /2 bath unit), transportation (we don’t own a car) and daycare expenses from people who have done a similar move.
So bummed - had first round interview w/ BCG and just received an email that I didn't make the cut. I thought it went really well and the note came as a surprise. How do you get over this and move on?
New Yorkers: I was recently laid off and just went though the hell that is “everything unemployment” related. I wrote a cheat sheet on all I learned (it’s hell) to hopefully spare future victims.

This has fired up staunch Conservatives (not just MAGA) to vote Trump in November. Definitely an unfortunate situation for RBG to have passed, but Republicans nationwide have a newfound motivation to re-elect Trump
