How much would you and your SO need to have saved up if you both wanted to retired by Age 50 and live comfortably (not frugal and not extravagant). Assume no debt/rent. I think about 3mil for me. You?

I was going to say around $5m too.

3 mil? Seems pretty low if you’re planning to live off that for the next 30-40 years

#math. Indeed. Yes principal would likely go up at that burn rate

Im on track to retire very young, or at least have the option to.

I've made a few models on this and some things to consider include;

Health insurance and health care costs.

Inflation, less than 50 years ago we had 10% inflation. Could it happen again in forty years?

Life expectancy, 70? 80? 90? More?

Investments, if you have enough to fund retirement you can leave a sizable stock exposure in the early years.

Life style, travel? Snow bird?

Purpose, what will you do with all your time? Purpose is important.

For the younger people here.

Save now as if you are retiring early. Having the ability, the option, the security to retire early is a wonderful freeing thing even if you choose to work forever.

10M by 55 in 2040 dollars. 4% glide with plenty of the portfolio in market-risk vehicles (with 30 year horizon, why not?)

I enjoy the work I do so I’ll probably have much longer to acquire and invest, probably won’t retire until 65-70

$10M is the goal by age 52. Don’t actually need that much at projected spending rates, but would like to grow the balance to leave for my kids and/or donate. Actual requirements for indefinite funds according to model is $7.5M.

Aiming for $1.5 by 40. And that’s with two kids. Because i want to be super involved with kids.

10m

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!

A red tidal wave on election night. Unfortunately, this is the 21st century and elections last for weeks now. Once again (just like 2020) races are slowly moving back to democrat control after Election Day. Are we surprised?
My takeaways-

1. People care more about abortions than the impending recession and inflation. Or at least they THINK they care more thanks to the media.

2. Desantis over Trump for 2024. Desantis has unmatched support. Trump politicians are still losing & so will he
