Thanks folks. Just FYI, just quoted 850/hr and they accepted it 😀

Yeah, I think GLG charges $1k/hour for a call, so presumably you’d see a nice chunk of that

Maybe I'm outing them but we pay $1300, then an amount for every 15 minutes over that hour. So keep them talking like a 1-900 worker ;)

are you asking as an expert? We work with GLG very frequently and I think they do a pretty good job sourcing SMEs for us. I generally need them for very specific topics that are either new to an industry, super niche, or I otherwise can't find an answer for. We pay a pretty penny for the service so hopefully they are giving a sizable amount back to the expert.

@Man1, I will be their supposed ‘expert’ they can take to their clients. They are asking me for an hourly rate expectation and I am wondering what is the standard market rate, so I am quoting something that’s not too many standard deviations away

Got it. Without knowing their split, it's hard to say. But as the value prop owner I'd hope for 40-50% of my number above... Also, they enter you into their rolodex and you get calls if someone has a need that matches your profile. They work quickly and can usually start getting us names within about a day of our discovery call. Will help your volume if you bring something relevant, yet nuanced to them that make you the go to person for a particular topic.

BOOM! Nice work!

I don't knew what they charge by I get $500/hr through a different network. Apparently I need to ask for more based on OP =]

Have you ever worked with a partner that points out every error you make (regardless if it’s nothing or a bigger error) but never points out anything good you do or says thank you? How do you not let it slowly chip away at your confidence and self-worth? I try to let it roll off my back, but it does ultimately affect me and my enjoyment of my job.

I received an offer for a business development associate role at a hedge fund in the NYC area. Headcount is approximately 30 and they have $15bn AUM. I have a meeting with the founder of the firm to discuss compensation but I have no idea what to expect or what is market compensation because I can't find any data online. I am a recent college grad. What is a reasonable base range to expect? Sign on/performance based bonuses?

My Director just chewed me up and started taking over as a lead on my project... 3 weeks in of having no clue what I'm doing, working 10 hrs+/day and multiple sleepless nights, I have to say I'm so relieved. Is it a good idea to take a step back and let my Director run things?

I'm in commercial contracting in house and everyone is driving me crazy today. Mainly business team being disorganized, Legal has to rush to help out or fast track contracts due to poor planning on business. Is this just commercial contracting? Or do other companies have a better handle on this.

Hear me out. We’re living in the residual days of advertising power. Back in the day, if you worked in advertising, you very much shaped culture. Advertising creatives shared the airwaves with only the likes of Hollywood and national news. There were only so many pipes into culture and advertising was a big one. But today, the pipes are democratized. Random teens on TikTok are having more impact on culture than Mad Ave. And yet, so much ego and self importance remains.

I’m buying a house with my SO and MOST of the down payment is coming from me. Both our names will be on the deed / title. We are getting married very soon! However, because I’ve been very busy at work, I wired her the money to go get a cashiers check with our down payment and closing costs for our closing. I noticed that the “Remitter” on the cashiers check she got only has her name on it. Is this a problem? Should I have the cashiers check changed to have both our names on it for legal reasons?
