Oh Ming…it’s as if they flew too close to the sun ☀️ and melted their wax mings, I mean wings.

I’m not defending current Ming, but a year or two ago I’d argue they deserved the hype. The one that really made them famous is the 17.06 copper dial below.
That was an amazing and beautiful watch with an original style. It won at GPHG and only cost ~$1,300.
That’s what the hype was about. Their earlier watches had some that were original, objectively beautiful, and an extreme value.
I fell off the Ming train as they a) moved away from their initial value prop, b) made zero effort to make them available to fans, c) actively courted the influencers, big names, dealers, etc., while also restricting quantities and raising prices. In short, they seemed primarily to try to build demand and scarcity rather than building a brand.
I think it contrasts well with Zelos who constantly interacts with fans, fixes mistakes, solicits inputs, and built a brand bottoms up rather than top down.
Yes, that's the point! They should have been more careful about the strategy

Look up horomariobro on insta, lots of it went down on one of his recent posts pointing out the misaligned hands

Wow, that’s bad. Are they really not fixing this?
Crap happens, and when it does if you’re open and honest about fixing it then you can actually gain from it. Part of the reason Zelos is so popular is the brand owner regularly interacts with customers and immediately takes care of issues. An early version of the swordfish had a clasp that was too short for some people’s hands. Elshan sent every single person who bought one a new clasp, at no charge, regardless of whether they said they had a problem.

Yep it’s moreso the latter that BCG mentioned. They basically blacklisted a watch blogger because he had issues with the lume on his first purchase, so they passive aggressively cancelled another order of his a year later citing that he was blacklisted due to the last watch complaints
I still don’t get the hype with this brand! I guess a lot of ppl are counting on Ming being the next FP Journe. I just don’t see why these pieces are getting so much attention!?

That’s what you get for spending thousands of dollars on a micro brand which really has no basis to be as expensive as it is. That’s why I stick to the established luxury brands.

What happened?
I am looking at Ming via Chrono24 since 2 years and you see more and more Mings being offered. Normally it was around ~10 and I have now more then 35 + which are not being sold. Same for the Hajime Asaoka watches (which I like and own).
Looks to me as the market is going down and people who bought it as an investment suddenly realize, that it is not...
I personally like the Ming, but the price is overheated and the new on for 12k is the best example of overreaching...
