How often can I get away with taking my intern buddy out for lunch/coffee? Do I expense it to CNS?

You sound so nice... could you adopt me as your buddy?

like

Or just grab a manager next time you go out and have them pick up the check :)

like

Depends on your level and how cool your counselor that approves the non billable expenses is...

like

Twice during the internship. If you're pushing through $500 in lunches you're gonna get that shit rejected real quick.

like

I'm asking mine once a week to lunch.. once a week to coffee but I'd settle for once a week either or

like

I'm just a first year staff :D

like

Best is to just ask your office leaders what an appropriate amount of lunches/coffees are with the intern coachees. The local office leadership should have an idea of how much interaction they want. This way you won't be at risk of getting expenses rejected and will have a hard answer as to what's appropriate.

like

I like intern lunches

like

You should've gotten an email or something letting you know how much you can expense. We have a $25 limit. Frequency not specified, so like I said - 1-2x a week.

like

As a first year, taking intern out a bunch will look shady.

like

Yeah I'd stick to maybe 4 lunches over the course of the internship and a weekly coffee to check in

lol my buddies are lucky if I have time to take them out once.... oops

I would stick to a couple. It's easier to do two fancy lunches rather than a lot of small ones.

Ours get a survey asking them how many times we met with them. Their internship is 6-8 weeks long. Once a week is 6 times. That's not excessive lol

You have to remember they may be on a client almost a full hour away from you. Even if you meet halfway, that's still an hour of just driving time. That's harder for some people to work into their schedule (I work busy season hours year round).

Yeah if you're out at the client never mind

Although that would be an excuse to get the team to let you work from the office for the day

We're in tax, we're in the office everyday

I'm in tax, TC2 and take our intern once or twice a week for lunch and 2 or 3 times a week for coffee. No one really says anything.

Yeah I'm in tax too so I second this guy ^

I love my job and the people I work with, but there’s one thing that really bothers me: the lack of diversity. Sometimes when I walk into the office and see everyone else around me as the only POC, it feels kind of weird. I don’t think anyone here has ever said anything racist or sexist to me personally, but I don’t feel comfortable talking about these issues with anyone because they might take it personally and then things could get awkward between us.

I got laid off in January and have been trying to find a new job since. I keep making it to the phone interview and sometimes a second interview, but always get ghosted. It’s so disheartening.

I have too much experience for an internship, and I have too little to be the top choice for copywriter roles. I know I’m a good writer, I know what I’m capable of, but it’s so exhausting trying to convince people. They always like my book but it’s never enough to get the gig. What can I do?

My manager put a surprise calendar invite twice now to go to home office without consulting dates to see if we were available. I stood up and asked to be included on available dates and said I will attend virtually but asking me to be away for 4 additional full days away from my family without asking me is not OK. I already travel a lot and this boundary is super important to me. Am I right or wrong?

Needing help on deciphering my true salary for the time being. I graduated at 17 with an associate’s in Cyber Defense. The company I am with has me listed as a field service specialist(6 month intern, 4month full time), however, I’ve picked up on different roles like project manager, systems admin, project engineer etc. I’ve been getting good experience but at what point do I need to discuss salary or move on? I’m currently making 45k which I feel like is low after gaining some insight .
