No lies detected.
Spent 4+ years as CMO of startup company. It was an incredible learning experience but also a very difficult uphill battle trying to steer the owners and the company in the right direction. I’ve just exited the company as of 11/18. The owners expected to storm the marketplace and emerge as a number one brand at only 6 years old without putting in the work.Company had a very hard time understanding the concept of a unique value proposition. Hoping to find a new remote (full time) position ASAP

Never once
Can you just take the day off? Why do you have to fake being sick?
Chief
Never, but I take as many of the unlimited vacation days as I want.
I have called in sick because I was too lazy to go in at least twice in my life.
There will come a time when you will be able to “block” chunks of your calendar to focus. Hang in there. Until then, take every Friday off every 3rd week until you take a week off in summer. If you do the math, its not too wild to do it.
Pro
every Friday does not equal every third Friday

Use them. Remember mental health is part of your health too.
Is mental fatigue.. not a form a “sickness”?
It is. But not easy to declare that’s it.
Never. What "crazy environment" are you talking about? If you actually have covid it wouldn't be a fake sick day.
Thanks McK 1. Needed to hear that.
Every single firm is promoting mental health more now than ever before. Taking a sick day bc mentally you’re over it IS a sick day. You don’t have to explain yourself for one day. “I’m sick. I’ll be back tomorrow/Monday/whatever”. I’m sure you are smart enough to know not to do it if a deliverable is immediately due, but otherwise use the days!
never, work < 40 hours a week
Didn’t realize this was so controversial. I’m with you OP. Once or twice a project when I’m feeling overwhelmed but also don’t have any crazy important meetings, I’ll take a sick day out of the blue. Recharge, sleep, hide from the team lol. I know people are talking about PTO, but I think the fake sick day is the perfect mental health retreat. I love my team and my boss, but sometimes you need your time. Go for it!!

They’re all pto, no one cares if you fake it
I can barely call real sick days. Worked with COVID if I had no coverage. So... can't say I've ever called a fake one. I have flat-out called PTO if I had no work though.

Why do you need to call in sick? Why can't you just tell your team you're taking next Friday off and that's that?
Why bother lying. Just take a pto day
I schedule PTO with staffing and sometimes bill the time as ‘sick day’. My team thinks I’m on PTO and no one knows any different. Not sure I’d call this ‘faking’.
Sick days are part of your benefits package. If you don’t use them you lose them. Genuinely curious why others wouldn’t do the same.
