Have you gotten interviews or only rejects to your initial application? If the former, keep at it - took me a bit more than that to land the gig I wanted. If the latter, have someone review your resume, better tailor your resume to the jobs you’re applying for, or change expectations on what jobs you’re shooting for.
Details about your background would be helpful to know: how many YOE?, what do you specialize in? Target role type/level? Etc. It’s not just the numbers game, but a combination of several things that will yield what you seek.
I prefer consistency over bursts. There is a flow to how/when jobs are posted. Keep an eye on this flow and try to match it.
I prefer to set aside dedicated time (at least on hour per day) and apply to a minimum number each day. I track my applications as well. You need to build a chain.
Doing this gives me a manageable return (I get a reasonable number of interviews and it’s enough that I can do my research etc.) if you go in bursts then you might get a lot of interviews or at the wrong time. You might not be able to prepare well which won’t help you.
Do you tailor your resume to each job application?
