Early is better than late. I understand it more when I look at resumes and the interviewees frame it as looking for a “fit”.

Been since May 23rd that I’ve completed my background check. Called the 3rd party company and they said the background check has been sent to the hiring company for review as of last Friday. Should I wait another day before following up with my recruiter about the status of the background check? I don’t suspect there to be any crazy thing, but I’m just anxious. I’ve just never had a background check take at or over a week. Advice?

Hi! Want to show my commitment, enterprise and dedication to a pivot to cyber. Seek advice. 20 YOE Communications/research and consulting background. Earned Security+ and CIPP/US. Aspire to CISSP, but know I qualify only for associate (ISC)2 member until 5 years in industry. Can't seem to get to job offer stage landing first role. Should I strive to get CISSP now, even though I can't list it formally until I achieve the required industry experience? Thanks.

What are some strategies or tactics you have developed which are very successful in small markets (I'm talking SUPER small)? I feel like I've thrown all my darts and some markets still can't find talent.

Some things I've tried, here in Canada:

- non-profit/employment centers
- indeed headunting
- getting field/hiring managers to post around town
- getting on local FB groups
- local schools if there are any
- physical posters
- newspaper/old media (not great)

Ideas needed 😭

Asking for my sister:

Capital One 🐠, is negative feedback from a power day received quicker than positive feedback? That is, prior to her power day, my sister was told by the recruiter that she'd hear back in 2-3 days, and it's been 2 days so far with no news. Is that a good sign or undetermined?
