How often is it appropriate to follow up with my recruiter? I don’t want to be annoying, but it’s also frustrating not hearing anything for a couple weeks at a time.

If your recruiter (outside search firm) is actively submitting you places where you are pending, then feel free to follow up once a week.

If they are keeping their eyes open for new openings, then every 3-4 weeks.

Forget that advice - text me for an update everyday if you want.

Obviously I’m going to send you an update the second that I get feedback from a firm, but a quick text will spur me to ping the firms I’ve submitted you to and check my clients for new positions that you might be a fit.

Typically I’m working on candidate outreach, scheduling candidates with clients, conducting interviews, negotiating offers, etc. so if you text, it will remind me to spend some of my time on you that day.

Maybe this is the wrong platform for this, but to me the whole virtual interview process is so fake to me. Granted virtual can never REALLY take the place of in person interviews. The interviewer will say “yeah you did great” I think you’ll be a great fit here “……then ghosts you for a long time. All the fake questions. All the “requirements” that won’t equal a good employee. I just wish ppl would be real.

The normalization of "on hold" by the usual suspects. Had 6 interviews in past 4 months with D_itte Get the verbal offer from HR. Yay. Fast forward to following Monday. Get thanked for my complimentary followup sent post-final interview. 48hrs later, same recruiter (on speakerphone) tells me job is now hold and "you must be upset" and good luck in your search.

Tacky AF. Tell me I was rejected by the shadowy 5-person board or it was given to someone who wanted less. Just not this b.s.

Does signing an offer letter and re sending it to the Employer create any binding with the Employer

I have an offer with CITI which I have signed and sent it back to them. And I have an interview scheduled with Luxoft next week. And my LWD is Oct 21. In case I clear my interview and get selected at luxoft and i am happy with the project that I am going to get, is it OK for me to communicate to CITI at the 11th hour that I won't be joining them.

It’s very discouraging to continuously receive these rejection emails. With 9 years of supply chain experience, I am not sure why I would not be able to at least get an interview for entry level roles that require no experience. Not just this one pictured but others as well. I’ve applied to maybe 60 positions since May, both mid level and “entry” and no interviews. I’ve had my resume professionally re-written twice. Not sure where the disconnect is. Anyone else going through this same thing?

Why are firms still so obsessed with geography? I applied to this firm’s Boston office because I loved the firm, culture, and practice, and half of my interview was about Boston. Sigh. I’m very much agnostic about my location, so it’s frustrating to have to have a reason other than hey Im very happy and willing to move for this job

Can I go from PE to consulting? I am a mid career PE professional. Mostly in growth capital. I always had wanted to spend some time in strategy consulting. But in undergrad I failed to get an offer, despite making it to final round at nearly all the MBBs. Later I went to b school but it was not a target school for consulting. Now I am more than ten years in finance. Can I try to get an experienced hire role in consulting given PE experience? Is that nuts? Is this “grass is greener” syndrome?

Fish, need your help. 5th year doing leveraged finance at a V20 in NYC. I’m good at my job but I hate the practice area. Was a direct hire. Ideally, would want to pivot to ECVC but would take PE M&A in a pinch. Have 4 years of international (non-US law) M&A and 1 year of international (US law) capital markets experience. Is it impossible to retool now? Given that markets are hot will I have to drop years (already dropped the 4 years of international experience so not keen to drop more).
