Anything less than 2 years?? Do you know how much can change in a persons like in 2 years. I think below director level 1 year is acceptable especially given the mobility some agencies are challenged with
I'd rather have someone who can have a strong impact for a year than someone who has been keeping a chair warm for 5 years. Both longevity and skill would be even better, but seems really short sighted to preclude someone for not having stayed at a company for many years.
I think it’s more about the average. If I see a candidate that’s been at 3 agencies in 3 years, I’m going to be concerned. However, multiple stints at 2+ years and an occasional 1 year stint wouldn’t be out of the norm.
My personal opinion is anything less than 2 years. And while I personally have one gig that was shorter than that, I was still able to clarify to recruiters that I had to leave sooner than expected because my client hired a new CMO that was consolidating agencies and leaving ours out of the picture.
I rarely hire people that jump around (or interview them). A move every two years is a red flag for me (let alone every year).

I agree with Cola - If I see a candidate move every year I’d also be concerned about longevity and if there were reasons why they needed a change of agency every year. If someone is unsatisfied in their current role, I’d look at how they problem solved with looking at lateral roles within the same agency, or (depending on the size of the agency they’re in) moves within the same holding company. I’d say it takes a year to settle, dig in and really establish yourself, so consider that constantly moving may not be delivering the roles and opportunities as you’re constantly having to reestablish yourself within a company. That said, a role that you hate is a different story. Shortest stint on my own CV is 6 months at an agency that was breaking me, not a good fit, but I say just that, if anyone asks in interviews. Just know, the juicer the role, generally the more established you need to be within an agency so there’s trust and you get the company story.
IMHO 2 years minimum. You max Early learning and burn fewer bridges.
Agree with 2+ years with exceptions for a short stint once or twice that can be explained. It takes 6 months to truly ramp up in a role so if you leave after a year you haven’t accomplished much. It also says a lot to see promotions within a company vs jumping for titles which can mean you are a good interviewer but not actually a valuable employee.
In today’s climate, I would like at overall longevity. Most of the time you don’t know if they left because a client left and the team got dissolved or if they left of their own accord. It’s worth a conversation if the experience is right
Every year until your a manager is okay, imo. Jumping yearly after manager title would raise a red flag.
