How often should you provide status updates to your engagement management (daily, weekly, semi-weekly) assuming you’re on one or two engagements for a period of time? Additionally, what is the best method for providing updates (email, schedule a meeting, phone call)?

Does anyone work at a firm that does not offer year-end bonuses? I’m currently at a 25-50 person firm in a major market (CA) that mostly operates on big contingency cases. There were firm-wide paycuts at the beginning of Covid (still in effect). I’ve billed in excess of 2,000 hours and am feeling both cheated and a real lack of motivation.

Anyone else experience anything like this? Recommendations (other than leaving)?

I was called into HR because a coworker overheard a conversation between me and another colleague taking about cable/streaming shows that we watched or recorded. I mentioned that I recorded a few true-crime shows. My colleague jokingly said, "I hope I'm not on your hit-list!". I replied, "Not anymore." Any quitted big 4 right after a year? I got delayed with good rating but with the reason of not getting enough experiences (I took 3 months study leave). I also got assigned to busy files and for 70% of my file I worked till 10/11. Since WFH starts I completely lost the boundary of work/life and got depressed.

Hi. A bit new to audit and have a question on a report's opinion.
I came across a somewhat old auditor report (from a very small auditing firm) that listed several instances where employees misappropriated assets within its schedule of findings, yet the opinion was unmodified. Is this fine? I would think it'd affect the opinion not knowing everything that was misappropriated. Could it be that the auditor felt comfortable enough on how much they identified and that lowered the risk?

Any whispers around your firm as far as how long the plan to wfh will be for?

Who cares about the actual PO and invoice numbers and dates? Is anyone even going to check whether those are correct? 🙄

I’m an audit manager at a local PA firm in Chicagoland area. I’m having difficulty figuring out if my salary is within the current market for my position/experience. Our titles/levels are a bit off compared to bigger firms. Perhaps someone on here can share their insight?

CPA, audit manager (SM equivalent at Big4?)
2 years in the current position
10 years of experience in PA (staff->senior->supervisor->manager)
PA firm is around 100 people
Current salary $138k + 8-10% bonus

Where there is a disagreement between the auditor and the client as to the sufficiency of information disclosed around going concern uncertainty most especially where there is significant doubt around the going concern. Does the auditor qualify the report or introduce Material Uncertainty Related to Going Concern Paragraph in the auditor's report?
