How possible/common is it to reach $200k in consulting? Or must one exit to industry?

I would say it’s very common, especially if you have an MBA (new MBA hires come pretty close to 200K TC even in their first year out of school) or are a manager/above (even without an MBA). Obviously how long it takes to get to 200K depends heavily on the type of consulting you do, etc.

yeah its more that the opps for those roles are more prevalent at the higher mbas. But all folks starting at the company are going to start at the same (which recently its been around 160-180 base + bonus for T1 and T2 firms)

Very common after MBA or promotion to consultant or equivalent (firm dependent of course). At AlixPartners first year bschool hires were making 220ish TC last I checked.

Possible / common even at Accenture. Bachelors degree only from a state school and not in a tier 1 city.

The majority of our consulting team breaks ~200k TC in the US/Canada.

Very easy at ACN. I went to a random small liberal arts college you’ve never heard of. Tech consulting but still, was over 200k for 2019 and will be again for 2020.

EY Manager 2 very shy of 200TC. I would have but it this year had this covid shit not happened. I’ll get there in 18 months as a manager 4. Ten years in consulting with no mba.

While I am in touch with some consultants from my academic background, I haven’t looked at the relationship as a potential referral as of yet.
