I can see how you are worried about being a female, but don't see how adding you are a petite Asian has any relevance in midtown. You should be fine but there are a lot of homeless but just pay them no mind like anyone else.

EY1 is right, though. There isn’t a -white- supremacist group targeting us.

My SO is a small asian female. We live a block away and have never had an issue. Stay alert and be smart and you will be fine. There’s a homeless shelter on 32rd between park and lex. Never had an issue walking by even late at night.

The homeless people just keep to themselves? I’m moving to area full of several homeless hotels and wondering the same thing

I lived on 30th and 2nd and routinely walked to that subway station or by it on my way to K-Town. Area is really safe. As with most areas now, there are the occasional homeless out but they are generally harmless.

Midtown east is usually pretty safe, mostly working professionals that don’t have time to bother anyone.

At Park?

I lived off that stop for 17 years (2001-2018). It is a very safe area. Like everything else - keep situational awareness, don’t be super impaired ok anything, and you will be fine.

Relax

I live right by the station. Very safe.

Feel free to DM me for more info!

You should be safe in that area. Chin up, watch out and carry pepper spray. Cheers from another fellow petite woman.

I’m moving away from that area to UES cuz I don’t feel safe

I was in the 80s by 2nd Avenue. The whole area has turned into Penn Station Part 2

I lived on 34th and 9th for a year without any issue and I walk around a lot. I personally wouldn’t walk by myself after, say, 10PM anywhere and I live in the WV now, so can’t say if it’s less or more safe than any other neighborhood at that hour. I think if it’s a great apartment go for it!

Lives there for three years when I was in my young 20s, never had an incident (I’m a woman)

OP, first of all, welcome to NYC! Fellow Asian here.

As many said, the experiences vary but in general please be vigilant and cognisant of your surroundings - more “street smart”

Please DM if I can be helpful. It will be a great experience!

I live near that station. I went on 9pm daily walks during COVID as a petite pregnant lady and never felt unsafe. Go for it!

Upstairs neighbor is super loud because he has full hard wood floors and walks around like he doesn’t care.
