It's challenging, you'd be running a full desk (getting your own clients, filling jobs).
Don't do business with friends or family (they've asked me for discounts, 1 "friend" flat out refused to pay me)
Start working in an agency, do the 360. Build some strong relationships, venture out when the time is right.
We recently used Upwork to find two freelance technical sourcers and they worked out great! They each charged $50/hour (which IMO is very low for filling technical roles and you could get away with $90-$105/hour). One could only do 20 hours/week and that was fine with us. I think it's a great way for recruiters to make money on the side (assuming it doesn't conflict with your current employer contract). They strictly source and do a lightweight phone screen before passing interested and aligned candidates to our recruiting team. As a freelancer, you'll likely be working on a small part of the recruiting function but it'll be less stress and work on your own hours. I think it's a win/win personally. Go for it!
I have 15 years recruitment experience - 4 of which was running my own company. It is great but as mentioned a few times, it’s not an easy job that you can do part-time/on your own terms. It really is a rollercoaster of stop/start work.
When you are busy, you are busy. You may be working 50/60 hours per week. If a client gives you roles to work on and you don’t put in the effort, you can lose that client (that you have probably put in a lot of work to generate/nurture).
May be different if you charge on an hourly basis instead of contingent - but it’s definitely a tricky one.
Maybe a better option would be to subcontract as a resourcer for a small agency?
Try upwork. I have my own business outside of my day job and won business on there with a. Client who added 10 jobs to my original proposal.
I liked upwork it allows you to get access to companies/people looking to hire
It is very difficult; you can always start off with consulting in recruiting first
You can start on Fiverr, once you get some income start client acquisition. If you have connections already, then do start there. The market is saturated, but not many are independent. You can potentially charge way less than other organisations, and that by itself will make people want to work with you
