I'm a first year atty. I make $45K at a small firm of 5. In the last three weeks, my assistant has been fired (caught with pot on break), another paralegal quit, and now another assistant has resigned. I have a caseload of 80, with no help. Boss says they are looking, they made an offer, but if that person accepts, it will be weeks before they are ready. I'm falling apart and crying at my desk and can't sleep. Told owner. "Hang in there." Do I walk now? Or hang in there?
I think I’m passive aggressively sabotaging myself at work (not focusing, being late with deadlines, other things). I’m terrified of getting fired but I’m on a path to make that real. Anyone dealing with this? I hate this job but I really can’t afford to lose it.
Just got fired. Should I take the computer with me?
I’ve laid off people I haven’t even hired. Two of my interns were literally born yesterday. Theres already a line item in your current paycheck for our 401K, since you’ll work here in 7 short years.
Just found out a few senior managers are being laid off. We just hired a couple new seniors and staffs, how worried should I be as a staff?
Am I the only one not concerned about getting laid off? I know that sounds privileged and awful during this crisis, but I have so much work to do right now that I can’t imagine how we could issue our reports on time and lay people off since we are already stretched so thin. Am I super naiive to think this way?
What’s it’s like working at EY tax? I heard they recently fired a bunch of people. Got an offer but not sure if I should make the move.
I was laid off in April and have been freelancing. Have consistently been forced by large agencies to work on W2 for reduced rates. The ECDs I answer into treat me like I’m full time and expect nights and weekends, even client meetings. They’re under the impression freelancers are getting paid REALLY well and should be grateful. They have overtime stated in the contract but won’t pay it. This market has left creatives totally powerless.
May 2020 grad here: slight concern about finding a job post grad has grown into a full blown terror after seeing mass layoffs and hiring freezes. Any suggestions or moral support would be appreciated!
How are everyone’s organizations determining layoffs/furloughs during COVID-19? Lowest performers? Essential work?
Can you be fired after putting in your notice in California)?Specifically if you put it in before/during the holidays. I’m wondering if I could get screwed for firm holidays by giving advanced notice.
How's Edelman NY? Getting hit up for Health which I've never done. It'll entail moving from advertising to PR/earned creative as they call it, and the Health category. Didn't sound like hard sell pharma, quite a bit of branded video content. I searched on FB, sounded mostly negative culturally (employee fired during Pride month, political, creatives better watch their backs, climate denier) with a few who love it. Figured I'll ask if anything's changed, if it's even worth ... considering.
i constantly feel anxiety abt my team not liking me or getting fired. my reviews and check ins are good. i consistently ask for feedback and am fine but i live w/ this fear. how do i get over it?
Just started as an analyst and I have no idea what I’m doing. Anxious all the time that I’m just a fraud. Only me and an SM on a project and I just worry I’m going to screw everything up and get fired.
Anyone been laid off while working at Publicis? How was your severance package (and did it correlate with your tenure)?
DDB Chicago posted ‘we’re hiring!’ today. For the same creative roles they just laid off.The press DDB would’ve gotten for being the first agency to bring people back? But instead they humiliated those people with this tone. Really sad!!!!!
A little over a year ago, I posted about my boss making constant comments about my salary. Most comments said I must not have been performing well. I want to update that he was fired, not me.
Got an offer in industry and also got fired by the firm within an hour yesterday 😂 finally living my life for once!
You guys think the job market will pick up in January or that the next wave of covid will cause more layoffs?
I started a new job in 2020, was so excited after being at a job that I grew to hate over the previous 8 years. Got furloughed today which will turn into an eventual layoff. 😩

An Uber for Doctors. Thoughts? http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/05/05/an-uber-for-doctor-housecalls/
Been a miles hoarder for my whole life (United, American, Delta). I just learned about fidelity (2% cash back on all purchases/no annual). Seems legit. Any one have experience?
Has anyone tried giving up their seats on Delta or JetBlue? Is it really worth the time?
The longer I stay in this industry, the more I realize that no one has their shit together and all these companies are still functioning out of sheer luck.
