It depends how tall you are. Shorter women can get away with an inch or two above the knee. Probably 3 inches max. Taller women should be at or slightly above the knee.
With opaque tights you could wear a skirt that's 3/4 of the way to your knees maybe.
I think it also depends on the type of skirt- loose or tight

I stick to just above the knee as a general rule, keep in mind how much of your leg is exposed when you sit down or if there are any walking slits (particularly ones in the back that you may not notice go really far up).
I use the same rule that I had to follow in Catholic school — has to be longer than your fingertips when arms are at your side.
Ok well under this rule I'm doing fine, but under above I am def too short lol 😅
If you have to ask then it’s probably too short.
The limit does not exist

@a2 in which direction do you think? Fitted pencil skirts can be shorter than skater skirts because they stay in place better when you bend over? Or the opposite?
Also heels will affect how short a skirt looks.
I think tight short skirts are more inappropriate than looser short skirts- partially a butt/body con thing. I don’t do much bending over outside of my private office! Agree, I always wear flats
2 or 3 inches is totally fine (and honestly anything longer tends to look frumpy IMO). I just make sure that nothing shows if when I bend over or sit down.
I am 5'7" and I have a short torso w long legs. This post is making me realize I have definitely been breaking the skirt length norms/rules this summer. It's hard finding skirts/dresses that look long enough 😭 - I never wear anything that would show my butt or anything, but "knee length" skirts tend to hit me 4+ inches above the knee
