Hey, my goal is to get promoted at this cycle. What are the gaps I need to fill to get there.
If you want, you can come into that with a filled out behaviors/performance expectations paper and map out where you’re playing at that next level already.
Ask if you can put time on his/her calendar to talk about your objectives/priorities for the year. Then once you get time start by saying you think you’ve done xyz and want to think about next steps. Ask for feedback/thoughts
“Where do you think I am in my career progression?” “How do I compare to my peers in promotion readiness?” “I’d like to start thinking about next steps in my career — where do you think I am?” “I feel that, in many ways, I’m operating at the next level. I am currently working on XYZ. What gaps do you see?"
