How should I tell a company i no longer want to do their take home assessment? It ended up being too much work and I’m not that into them

💯 I have done this before. I let them know my feedback; the homework was more than the 3 hours they suggested. Red flag for that firm in my mind.

This happened to me for Flatiron Health. They wanted a case study even before talking to anyone (before a recruiter screen, etc) I just let them know as other people have mentioned

Same with flatiron, was a pretty open ended case that would have required thought and effort. Didn’t go through with it.

I echo completely what folks above said. Walk away if you know this is not for you, and give them your honest feedback in a professional manner.

HoT has spoken 🤌

I assume you already got back to them but I did this in an interview process. I told them that the project gave me great insight to the work I would be doing in this position and I realized it’s not a fit for me. They really appreciated it and then started talking with me about other positions

Curious to know what you would feel is acceptable assessment time? Under 3 hours? Many firms use case assessments now as part of their screening, and thus curious to hear your dissenting opinions. What would make you take the 2-3 hour case assessment and at what stage in the interview process?

Thankyou - these responses have been very helpful!

Agreed. They need to know it’s a poor way of assessing candidates

Okta is a company that does this too from a technical take home challenge perspective - takes at minimum 3 full days to complete if you have the right knowledge, and likely weeks if you don’t

Deloitte S&O who have had year end discussions, what was your raise and bonus based on your level/locatiom?

I had a pre-approval with a bank and going to be continuing an application with them for a mortgage. However that bank is now my client. No link to that branch or visibility on files but wondering the conflict this can create when proceeding with my application. Do I flag this to my client, my manager or my broker?

Anyone have any experience with anheuser-busch InBev? Interviewing with them in a few weeks.

I hate it when I gain 10 lbs for the role then I realize I'm not even an actor, I'm just a consultant.

What do people in Corporate Strategy roles do? Genuinely curious, since I’m interviewing for a strategy role soon and want to get a better understanding of what their day to day involves as well as how much they are. Any tips on what to expect in the interviews, especially at the Director level would be incredibly helpful for me to prepare. TIA!

Was just told I’ll be making just over 200k TC at EOY promotion. Position has a lot of upward mobility potential in coming years. I’ve been here a few years with consistent high ratings. However, I’m concerned I may not be learning as much as I could. Plus, I may find similar or higher pay elsewhere. Any tips for evaluating? I’ll be 27 at promo.
