How smooth would a transition from Product Data Scientist to Product Mgmnt roles be?

The one thing you bring coming from a product data scientist role is that you understand product and using data to make decisions relating to it. That is mainly where they intersect, from there if I were hiring it would be about where first I have to believe you have the skills needed to work with different groups that comprise building the product from the engineering team, marketing team, data science team, sales team, the business side, etc. and have the interpersonal, communication, leadership and emotional intelligence skills to be able to talk to all these different people and know how you need to communicate with each and what they care about. Be able to manage and influence them from the bottom without any actual authority

Second, and this is why many companies will not take a risk on you unless you’ve shown that you actually have experience doing what I just mentioned above not just to show that you have what it takes which is important in of itself, but that you actually enjoy it. You have no idea how many people think product management is sexy and they will like it only to find out what it really entails and how much a pain in the *ss some things can be. If you’re the type that hates being in meetings all day, forget about it, that’s the majority of your job. If you don’t like asking for things, getting people to show up to meetings, following up with the different people to make sure they’ll be ready for a meeting with what was requested a month back, you’ll hate it. I’m saying these things not to scare you off, but just letting you know what they are looking for and why it may not be easy to convince someone you can without some certain experience

Nah

Deloitte has neither as a mature capability. We think we do but in reality we are not setup for (successful) product, try as we may.

Depends on your comfort with the expected role responsibilities. Work is quite different in both roles.

Hey folks, looking for some insight. How much should I ask my hourly wage to be for a contract job with Amazon Business that will run from mid August to end of December 2022?

I was looking for a full-time position that paid $70,000 with job security. The contract makes me a little nervous. Should I ask for more? If so, then how much more is reasonable?

Hi there -
I applied to an experienced consultant position at Bain and just heard back. Yesterday, I received an invite to a HireVue one-way interview to complete. Today, I received an invite for a coffee chat with a consultant. I’m of course going to do both, but the emails make it seem like they are almost two separate paths/disconnected processes. Can anybody offer some insight into each of these/the process?

I am interviewing for a new IT Manager position. I started putting out soft feelers and then hit the hunt harder. The problem: I have one offer and need to give an answer by next Wednesday. I have two other opportunities that are in final steps but probably won’t have offers by next Wednesday. Both of the other offers will be higher pay but clearly are uncertain for offers. Do I accept the offer I have, which is a good one or wait for the other two to finalize and possibly miss out altogether?

Slalom 🐠 , what’s your WLB like? I have seen some of you posting good things about your WLB. Should I try to make a jump? I like the intellectually fulfilling part of consulting, but the overscope and culture issues at current employer overshadows that. Maybe there’s a consulting firm out there with good WLB 🥸
