How soon into a new project/role should I feel like I’m making a valuable impact? Was on my old project for years so it’s been a while for me, and I’m feeling pretty useless at the moment

Welp, Trump and the Republicans have now killed overtime pay. I'm sure senior managers everywhere are rejoicing. I really feel sorry for folks who work in retail, restaurants, labor, etc.

Who has taken a huge risk and failed? LinkedIn, business forums, and media love to normalize the “all-in” risks that led to reward, but who has a true failure story? How did or how are you working to come back from it? Life lessons exist in failure. Sharing these could hopefully help someone else facing the same crossroads.

I was talking to a few people (who are from my home town but moved to nyc), and they we’re saying that they moved to nyc because they’re “career oriented” and “fast paced” and “want to make money”….and I’m like “people from other cities are like that too 😐” and they were like “no, not like nyc.
