As soon as you get a better opportunity. It doesn’t matter if it’s only been a week. You owe nothing to your employer (unless, of course you *literally* owe some debt as part of an agreement) and they’d probably chop whoever they want should they need to.
Hey, 20-30 years ago this may have been an issue but the workforce and work culture is changing. With newer generations coming into leadership roles, workers are standing up for what is best for them, finding a harmony in work and personal life, time off, and of course, salary.
Don’t feel bad that you have this question eating away at you. First I would ask myself which team I think I’d like working with better. If you think it’s with your current group, why not approach them and let them know you’ve been offered more money somewhere else. Give them an opportunity to match the offer you received. If they’re unable or unwilling to match, make the decision that is best for you.
