At KPMG? No, leave. Anywhere else? Yes.
Left Accenture in 4 months
You don't owe a company anything. You do what is in your best interests. Just don't leave a job without another lined up unless it's super, super toxic
Nah, knew a colleague who accepted a another job while his dream job went into a hiring freeze
Role got unfrozen and he left his new job 2 months later

Don’t make it a habit. If the other role is a good opportunity with long term potential, that’s a fine reason. You can explain that in an interview. Sometimes roles don’t pan out how you thought they would when you applied. But if you do this a few times, it will start to raise red flags.
If I was at my previous company for 7 years, does that give me enough of a track record to be able to get away with this (in the eyes of prospective employers)?

If I received your resume and you had a 7 year gig then 4 months, I wouldn’t look at that as a major red flag. I would ask about it in an interview but if your answer was sufficient, I wouldn’t blink
Depends on the reason; do you have a much better job lined up? No!
If you are 100% sure you hate it, nope. I would try to find another job before leaving though.

No. If it’s not a good fit than move on. I’d only question it if I saw a pattern of it in job history. Once is easy to explain away
Nope. Fk that job.
lol I left KPMG after 4 months. Only one of my interviewers cared to ask why
What did you do at KPMG and what level? How did you make the jump?
I’ve left my job 9 months in before. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer. The only thing you need to consider is that whatever job you go into next after a short stint, you plan to stick with it for a few years at least. You don’t want to seem like a job hopper.
OP, not sure why you are looking to leave - but here’s my anecdote. Joined D last summer and my first project was a perfect storm of poor leadership, understaffed, awful account leadership team (micromanaging constantly) and a negative client environment. I hated it and was miserable. I voiced my concerns to my coach and my project SM, and I also started interviewing for other jobs / exploring other options. Ultimately, I decided to stick around for one more project to see if all D projects were like this. Now, I am on a project that is a DREAM. Different industry, totally different team. We are fully staffed and well-scoped, the clients are great, and both our project SM / PMD and the account team are empowering and kind, and just generally stay out of our way unless we need help. It’s night and day. I’m sleeping well and my WLB is awesome. I plan to stay on this account forever (if possible) because this is an environment where I can and will thrive.

If you just want out, it’s fine. If you want a title boost or you got a promo then 6-9 months in role.
What about 4 months and requesting an internal transfer?
