Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role. My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase
Currently interviewing with Facebook (Meta) and looking for advice from other Technical Recruiters that recently joined. I’d be leaving a great company after less than 1 year, but I’d get the chance to upgrade my leveling (perhaps even mgmt) with the bonus of getting experience at a FAANG company. These companies operate their own data centers too, look into systems engineer roles, or type in “data center” into the careers search

How’s your coding and writing automation at scale? As in using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, Vault, CircleCI, shell scripting, containers, Kubernetes? How are you with securing systems, automated patching, security compliance and monitoring, etc? I’m in a hardcore place where my team is managing thousands of hosts performing all of the above as the only ones with hands on keyboard separate from our infrastructure dev teams… and we’re a team of <5.
@Amazon 1 wow great to know. Might need to start exploring down that line…
