How to address pay conversation where my manager has given me a heads up that pay will stay the same next year even though this is the best year I have had in terms of performance in a decade with the company? (and incentives were taken away as a blanket decision this year because of Covid)

I would be frank about it and express your disappointment. Top performers should be recognized. Also brush up CV.

Refresh your CV and LinkedIn, then look elsewhere (if there are no other reasons to stay at your current job). Consider other benefits and the fact you'd be starting over with very little social capital and those 10yrs don't matter to colleagues in a new company.

If you add it up and it still comes down to pay, then it sounds like it's time to go.

Good luck!

Love the work where you get to coach CEOs and transform organizations and it feels great to do meaningful work and your clients loving you back. The money is an important factor as well in life because your family has certain expectations as well. How do you balance career with family expectations?

Ask them if they would want to stay at a firm that wouldn’t increase their pay after a great year by them (covid is not an excuse for 0 merit based pay). Without incentives, why should one have good performance? Can the firm guarantee a healthy supplemental bonus next year or an early promo for this slap in the face? They will probably say no, and you should tell them to save their breath while you prep your resume.

OP, you in KPMG?

All the best mate

If incentive compensation and pay raises were halted firmwide this year, you're probably screwed if you're at a big firm. Leaving will be the only way to get a compensation boost or get your firm to issue a counter-offer.

Best case scenarios: early promo. Or is there non-cash compensation, like extra PTO days that don't count against a chargeability target?

1st Job - 90k…. Is this a good salary? Late to the game at 34. Don’t even know anything about personal finance. Basically feeling like an 18 year old over here with no knowledge of how to run my own life. Having to start over after long term controlling relationship where I was left out of all the finance stuff. So I’m lost TBH. Engineering makes sense, managing my money not so much.

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

I am a BSc IT Graduate who's been working in BPO for almost 5 years.
I was planning to make my switch to Data Analytics, is that a good choice?

Can this previous experience of mine come in handy, if i have to switch to BA or DA?
My Current CTC : 5 LPA

Would i be starting as a fresher or can i be able to milk this experience of mine to switch to this new role?

I’ve been a general manager for a convenience store for almost 2 years now. My store profits about 17k a month on inside sales, and 160k a month in fuel. I think I deserve more, but I don’t know how to ask for it, and don’t know how to begin a job search aside from indeed. Any advice?

I’m currently an IB analyst at a no name shop in LA. I’m employed as a 1099 and I currently get 70k/year + 5% of deal fees I’m staffed on. This makes my all in extremely variable as I made 210K in ‘19 and 70k in ‘20. We let someone go this year and I asked for a raise and he bumped me up to to that 5% from 4%. However we just signed up 4 new clients, which would greatly increase my workload as I’m the only junior guy. Would it be messed up to ask him to bump me to 100k base or I quit?

Company wants me to travel to Austria for training/meetings/etc. I'm a US permanent resident. I applied for a Schengen business visa thru VFS in Miami. It's been pending with the Austrian consulate in DC for almost 2 months now because they said they need confirmation from the AMS in Austria if I need a work permit/work visa to be there. Both myself & the CEO of my company have tried contacting the AMS there multiple times with no response. Sort of stuck in limbo. Any advice?

It’s interesting how ambition can actually be a bad thing. I want to make tens of millions and impact millions of people and leave a big legacy. But then the problem is with dreams that big I struggle so much to relax. I feel so much pressure to always be productive. I’m a human doing not a human being. And then I also think “well dang if I want to accomplish all these things I should be further by now” which that isn’t good for mental health either. I wish I was content with less

Her problem is she wants to be able to eat rice and pasta for every meal and thinks she doesn’t need to reduce that. WWYD
