Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
I love my job but Im underpaid despite being here 10 years. I just found out they are hiring new hires higher than me and Im the one training them.
I decided to look online and found a recruiter offering a similar job. I have an interview tomorrow and the range is 20-30k above what I make.
1. How do i position this to my boss about matching the offer
2. If the new company says its an avg of 140-150k total comp, what should my number be to get me to leave? Would 200k be insulting?
Didn’t really know where to post this: interviewing for a Operations VP role with Goldman Sachs on Monday. Any tips on some questions I might encounter? Good questions for the interviewer? 30 min interview. Then another on Thursday as well. Location would be in the Salt Lake City office.

Hearing a lot of people getting their offers pulled, especially from tech companies. Not be stranded in limbo. Be careful
Not to be “that guy” but what could you possibly be working on for 7 weeks? I’ve given 4 weeks before bc I was a lawyer and I had a ton of cases but I wrapped all of it up in like two weeks and I was just sitting in my office bored for another two. Is your current employer making you do this?
VP1, it's not always the like for like replacement at work and in some cases, niche skills and handing over the tool that you built requires proper handover following adequate trainings. Especially if you have a good relationship with the mgr you are leaving.

You should’ve told your new employer that you’d be walking away from some bonuses as part of your salary negotiation.
Absolutely. This should have been used to leverage sign on bonus. Especially considering His/Her payout will be after they have resigned, and their line Manager will have to manage allocations of the bonus funds amongst other employees :)
I need to stay an additional 3 weeks at current place to qualify for a yearly performance bonus. Obviously can't tell that new employer so was not sure how to word it
Why can’t you tell your new employer that? That’s exactly what you SHOULD tell them. They’ll likely be way more amicable to give you a later start date OR they’ll give you a sign on bonus to leave early.
Why do you really want to extend to 7 weeks? You can try work extra/overtime to cover the extra three weeks. Don't keep your new employer waiting for you for an extra 3 weeks and you are not like an executive or something. They might end up contacting someone else to do the job or they pull the offer especially right now tech companies are just laying off people.
I feel you, you are in a rock and a hard place. At this point just discuss with your new employer the current situation. If they can't match the bonus alternatively ask them to give you that extra 3 weeks.
