Just short every high street retailer
Intending to use the money for a big purchase soon (eg: down payment) or don’t yet have an emergency fund? HY savings
Planning to just let it sit as a long term investment for years/decades? Index funds
Yeah, good point. Also would like some liquid $ for good real estate investment opportunities
Always play the market long term and the volatility is somewhat a non issue. Short term, yeah some concerns but the market is still the best place to put your money
emergency fund - hy savings. otherwise stock market (not an advise)
Dogecoin. Too big to fail
Thanks for all your suggestions. After some thinking, Ive decided to pay down $25k of my current mortgage (~3.7% interest rate) and invest $25k in equities. I’ve already capped out the $10k SALT deduction, so cant deduct the mortgage interest, so the 3.7% is a pure cost net of taxes. Im in my early 30s so will have time to ride the equity market with the remaining $25k investment. Will invest in large cap ETF

Buy some index funds then don’t get freaked out about what happens in the short term
Depends on your age. If you are young and have a long career ahead of you then you can afford to ride out stock market volatility for a much higher return. However if you’re older and won’t be working much longer then bonds or other conservative materials might be better suited for you.
Where are you getting 2.3%?!
CIT bank
Credit union Cd or money market. If you’re a risk taker, split 85% into stocks and 15 into VIX.
Here are the 5 alphabets for your taxable account , when you are parking money for 3-5 yrs- VTMBX Thank me later .
Assuming your horizon is 3-5years - VTMBX . This is for taxable account only as VTMBX income is mostly Taxfree. It holds Muni and long term dividend stocks. So there is 95% or more chance you will net 5% per year for this short term horizon Now if you can lock this money for 10 plus years - invest in etf VT - you will have 95% or more chance of 8% per year return in 10 years
So I’m an older partner. I wish when I was young I had ignored the investment advice to avoid certain annuities and stick with term life and mutual funds / equities. My reasons are as follows - pensions are nice things at retirement and no one will have them anymore. So use certain annuities to simulate a pension and let quality insurance companies worry about how to get yield and provide your monthly “pension” check. Yeah, I know insurers get nice fees. But to have a portion of your savings working towards a monthly check for life is a very nice concept. And some of the products have good cash value if you die young and some guarantee a floor on return despite market performance. I’ve looked at some of the products from Jackson National and they look pretty appealing. I’m not suggesting all your money in such a vehicle, but a portion of it because you’ll still need a rainy day fund and aggressive investments if you’re young. Anyway, food for your thought.
Best strategy would be to invest in stocks long term. Volatility generally affects short term investors. Market sentiments are usually strong in the long term and generally economy boosts up after a while.
Stocks. Otherwise buy a home/condo or refi existing.
