If you spend anytime on this bowl it’s pretty easy to feel like you are behind in your career. Always someone with less YOE making more than you. I was hanging out with some high school and college friends who coaxed my salary out of me (I don’t like talking money with friends - we all took different careers and we have different salaries; but I don’t want money to drive us a part) And they gave me a good reminder that we (consultants) live in a bubble and are very fortunate.

When you all say “max out your 401K,” you’re actually putting in $20K annually?! How?? My salary is $95K. After taxes, take home pay is like $60K. 1/3 of my $$ should go to 401K? I’m so stressed. 😔

Calling a woman “ma’am” is a sign of respect in many countries and in southern parts of the US. Why is it so offensive to women in the north east? I’m a woman, I’m new to the US so I’m just trying to understand.

I wish I knew about this when I was younger. If you are married and delay having kids, research about health risks associated with it. This isn’t discussed enough but the difference between having a kid in late 20s vs early 30s is big. Not only conception is more difficult but also genetic risks go up exponentially.
