What I mean is, make sure it’s clear it’s someone’s attitude that’s the problem, and there’s no doubt to others that your work is getting the job done
Take the high road, his impression of you is not the one that matters. In fact, neither is your client’s.
Do your job as best you can and be polite, others will see what’s going on and it’ll be a net positive for you.
Last thing you want to do is play games on your client’s dime.
He got like 30 years of work experience and conflicting with me since I took the lead role from him.

I had this situation. Organised a session where the contractor had to present his work to the steerco. His 1st slide was good which got me worried but after the 4th, the client walked out. Contractor was gone in 2 days.
These types exist everywhere, getting paid for no output and undermining everyone who has positive intent. Need to put them in their place, forget deals
