Do you actually need credit right now? If not, I would resist any temptation to do something unnatural just to boost your score. For example, if the main driver is not having enough large loans, I wouldn’t just go out to buy a car for the purpose of having a loan.
Having loans show more evidence you can pay back and will boost your credit
I've never understood that. Want to improve you're credit score? Take on more debt !

It is true for stocks, but not for human behavior ;)
It’s counterintuitive, a lack of loans shows that you might be a risk because there’s no/little history of making on time payments. A large loan with a history of on time payments shows you’re reliable.

What's your score and why do you care about increasing it?
Of it's high 700s, you should get top rates anyway. Just let the age of the loans and other accounts progress.
One quick thing to do is pay your reported bills twice a month. This will lower your utilization. I pay after each paycheck. For me, the lease of mind of knowing I won't ever have a late payment is greater than the minimal interest o would gain by holding the money in savings and the hassle of having o transfer it to checking. I just don't spend that much each month.

It’s high 700s (FICO). The other bureaus are lower for some reason? Either way I was hoping to cross the 800 mark, admittedly only for perfectionist purposes.
Okay- thanks for that. Yes, have heard of that trick. Did it a couple times and am going to start doing that regularly.
