If I were your roommate, I would still pay. Doesn’t seem worth it to split hairs over things like that otherwise it’s a bit of a slippery slope from there.
you split it…part of having an apartment with a roommate is that these bills are shared regardless of if someone is home more than the other. Plus, even if you both had left for a month you would still have an electric bill to cover the fridge, etc.
Not unless they unplugged everything. Phantom draw is real and if they have anything in the fridge it’s still fair to split. I’d charge them less but they should still contribute

If the bill is noticeably less than normal, you could pay what you normally pay and let them pay less, otherwise split it. They’d still have an electric bill if they lived alone and went away for a month.
I would still charge them normally? Still have to pay for heat, the refrigerator, etc. some companies charge for just access to their utilities without consideration of usage. I guess you could give a slight discount for lighting/laptop but it’s not easily quantifiable.
Live alone and my utilities were still $40 when I wasn’t there for a month. Split evenly.
You still split it evenly, regardless of how often someone is home.
Appliances take the most energy and those stay on. I’d have them split it still and I’d understand. Or if anything do a 60/40 split
