Additional Posts in Salary & Compensation
Hey Guys !!
I received an offer from Visa Inc for
Senior Consultant, Cyber Security role.
Below is the compensation offered.
This is for a position in California,
could you suggest if it's competitive
for this role in Visa or should I ask for
more.
Joining bonus - 15k
Package - 185k
No RSUs
YOE - 5 years
Visa
How large was the range? They say never to give a range bigger than 7K if under 100K
Range was 105k-115k! I based this off of salaries I saw for similar roles in my area (Los angeles) for 3 YOE
You can absolutely negotiate even when you gave them a range. I had interviewed with multiple companies at one time and when I received and offer from one finally I let them know what some other places were offering. Ideally I wanted to go to the place that offered me first, for a lot of reasons. I told them if we can work on getting that to the higher end of my rage I had provided, I would absolutely accept the position.
You can also do some research on salaries for that role. If they offer you something on the lower end, mention how you've had some time to research and based on X, Y and Z with your skills, you'd like to get closer to (insert salary you'd like).
I didn't actually have any other offers at that point either. But it was in my best interest to tell them I was at least in a final round interview with another place, and this is what they were offering (that part was true for me at the time). It never ever hurts to ask, worst they can say is no. I think when asking for more, spin it in a way that says you're excited to join the team, excited for the role, how can we get to this compensation?
