Marriott Silver really isn't beneficial. I'd argue that the minimum level you would want is gold. Where are you currently at with regards to lifetime nights/points? Will make it easier to figure out what options are available to attain it.
I just made lifetime platinum. After 4 years in consulting and traveling. Get the Marriott Visa card!
Get both the Personal and Business Marriott CC. You will get 15 nights a year from each. Usually have a 75-80k signup bonus. The annual nights and signup bonus points from both count towards lifetime. Points for credit card spend also counts towards lifetime and you get 1 night stay credit for every $3000 spent.
Make sure your account has your birthday. Usually get a 1 night towards status for that too.
Marriott typically offers points through social media promotions. They had a good thing going on Twitter during the NFL season.
Don't complain just to complain, but if your stay is 💩. Let the hotel know. They credit bonus points, these count towards status.
Consider the following trick of platinum in 8 days. Basically get 10 nights credit for every meeting held. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marriott-rewards/1121221-platinum-status-eight-days-800-no-stays-required.html
You need @least lifetime gold - that gets you lounge access. Sliver is pointless. Credit card points count toward your lifetime points as well as the nights you get for minimum spend
All that being said, you have a long way to go as it appears your spend is really weak compared to the number of nights you've currently stayed.
Yeah, took me a little over 4 years for LTP. Roll over nights and credit card spend really expedited the process. Going to be harder moving forward as I believe they stopped the roll over nights after last year. Really curious how the combined SPG/Marriott program is going to shake out. Might not be worth chasing lifetime status, unless you're really close to gold or platinum, until the merger completes.
200 nights and .5 Mi pts
Wait till after the merger and be hit by a 10 year target for status? Sounds painful, tbh...
