Of the group that just became managers a month ago, their peer left when she was an S1(poorly rated too), and now she’s a senior actg manager in industry making 40-50% more than them. There’s no one right answer. You have to think about your own future. If you want to be a controller, would you feel more comfortable going straight from being a manager at EY, or move up within the company after having learned the ins and outs as a sr acct or actg manager for a few years?

If you want C suite, is stay until manager. Networking is key also, not just staying longer.

Would be wiser to leave after senior 1 busy season.

It’s better to leave at senior because you’re still young enough to go through “training” etc

Currently a first year staff in Risk Advisory in a Mid-Tier Firm hoping to move to Big 4 for either Risk or Cyber. When would be the most appropriate time to make the change? I heard that Senior Staff in mid-tier would most likely be hired as an “Experienced Hire” in Big 4. So would it be smarter to make the move now as a first year staff since I’ll be considered Experienced Hire anyway?

Recently lateralled to a new firm and I have mild “PTSD” from my old firm 😶 everything from the way docs are saved on the system, file naming, email writing style, team conventions etc - I keep thinking any small mistake would get me yelled at / be at the receiving end of snarky or passive aggressive emails but people at my new firm are so lovely and far from that. I’m trying really hard to move past this and my new colleagues are probably getting sick of my questions 😂 Anyone else can relate?

What’s your take on counteroffers? I recently was offered a role at a growing company (Recent IPO) with what looks like a bright future. Main reason I was leaving current role was due to boredom and wanting a change. Recent restructuring at current place has opened opp’s and they countered with a promotion and 30% bump with all new responsibilities/path. Thoughts?
