Audit Bowl

How well would a seasoned audit partner perform if put in a staff accountant role? They keep all of their knowledge but only the authority of a staff.

Quite well but I think they’d be surprised by the coaching notes they get and how much longer doing the work takes than they expect

The biggest issue would be the proficiency with Microsoft office products and various other platforms used by staff on a daily basis.

A seasoned partner put as a senior on an engagement with weak staffing...that’s one I’d like to see.

I think one thing that would surprise them is rolling forward a workpaper takes a while when the new form changes weird stuff

We would be over budget because we would be manually doing things in Excel that you do with shortcuts faster than we can put the blue fence in place! 😝

I thought it was a requirement as a partner to lose all auditing skills besides leaving review notes

signing partner my fortune 500 job would detail review a few workpapers ever year. If you failed his review you got lit the fuck up. He still knows how to roll (he’s one year short of late retirement).

Reckon they’d smash it tbh. People comment on shit excel skills but I imagine they’d pick it up in a matter of weeks.

Cyber: EY vs Accenture - which do you think will give me better exit ops when up for Manager (2-3yrs)? Accenture seems very ahead of the game when it comes to tech, but im also trying to get less hands-on implementation and more into strategy and selling, which seems like it might align more with EY. These are just gut feelings tho, would like input from people in the know.
