Better to move within the firm to make the international move, then move internationally and firms at the same time.
From an immigration perspective, an L1 (company transfer visa) is easier to get and preferable to an H1B in the current immigration climate. H1Bs get more scrutiny and denials lately. However, both are possible.
So, moving internationally with the same firm is easiest. But it will take a while, you’d need a year in London at whichever firm before you can apply.
If you don’t want to wait, I’d move quickly - H1B applications have to be submitted by... April, I think.

Bingo above. Get into a big firm, specialize or be best at what you do and put in for a transfer
Thanks for your replies! All of these are super helpful 😊
London first and then move internationally?
