Do people get held back from becoming senior from a staff 2?

Lateraled into banking and I'm getting killed. My aso will mention to do stuff as he's walking out, says do this this and this and by the time I process what he said he's out the door then I miss something he's like I told you to do it. If I ask questions to clarify he gets annoyed, he says read what I wrote again, how is what I said confusing, etc. Dude I just want to be fed info my first few months until I reach a critical mass level of info to run shit on my own to some degree's

Has anyone working on primarily Asset Management, specifically mutual funds audits, found it difficult finding exit opportunities outside of fund accounting? Do you see the experience transitioning to other corporate roles or would you recommend getting experience in another industry prior to making the jump out of public? What are the typical exit opportunities with this experience?

A recruiter submitted me for a job a few weeks ago and they declined, but a second recruiter just reached out asking about the same job so I know they’re still looking. It is a DREAM position for me. Would it be inappropriate to reach out directly to someone on their team?

A HR (brand side) asked me illegal questions abt my immigration status a few months ago, I pushed back and ignored her. This person just contacted me again, and sent me an assignment (??), without my response to her email, she called me.

I feel like clients would like our ideas more if we presented them on a stage at a comedy club around midnight with a two drink minimum.

My boss has video on every single meeting. Status? On. IR? On. Not presenting and just there to chill? On. Even when no one else has it on and knowing it’ll just be his face taking up the whole screen. I’m starting to think he just likes to think we all love staring at him.

My Account director said, "...Mike come on top of me on this" on a call. I think he meant "build on what I'm saying". Not quite the same now is it 🙄

Got spoiled by a caring CD who actually advocated for my career, now I have a CD who is constantly underperforming and overuses the phrase “manage up” which I think is a simple way to say they’re aware of their own incompetence? Sorry for the rant. 😔
