I continue to get paid enough to facilitate things outside of work that make me happy.

A more than healthy work-life balance, lucrative, motivating, engaging, and with upward mobility.

That you have made a significant impact at the places that you've worked and that that impact is increasing exponentially.

I feel like a successful career offers you optionality for you to change for what you are optimizing for at the moment - whether it's interesting work, work life balance, money, something else, or a combination.

My school has seen combinations of f2f, hybrid, and remote teaching/learning throughout the first half of the school year. After the MLK holiday, our district is returning to traditional f2f teaching 100%. I have 4 band classes (1 beginning, 2 intermediate, & 1 advanced), and as far as content pacing is concerned, we’re 1 9-week grading period behind. Is it a far fetched goal to get my students where they need to be by the end of the school year? How would you handle a situation like this?

What’s up with this trend of hiring managers rejecting developers who don’t have FAANG experience on their resume? People in consulting companies also work for clients who handle high traffic and complex architectures. Also, not everyone wants to work at FAANG companies due to moral issues that these big tech companies ignore and blatantly misuse personal data and privacy.

Is it a good idea to tell your manager intentions of leaving?

Recently had my review and it didn’t go how I expected. No raise, no promotion. I expressed disappointment but took the criticism I was given to reach my goal in 6 months or a year.

However, there are a number of issues that bother me enough where I want to move on.

The team I am on is small and I know that when I leave, they’ll have a lot on their hands. I only have a couple of interviews scheduled and nothing is solid yet.

I studied computer science in school but I didn’t do well due to life coming in the way. I got poor grades but ultimately finished my degree without any internship experience.

After three months of job search, I started for 45K at a construction company as a Jr App Support. After a year I shifted in to QA for 65k and now after a year of QA, I have finally gotten a position as a software engineer for 78K base.

The imposter syndrome is finally gone!

Hang in there, hard work pays off.
