How would you request a performance review from your partner?

“Hey boss, can we carve out a half hour in the next couple of weeks to talk about my performance to-date? I’m interested not only in what you think I’m doing well but where you think I can improve.”

I would definitely do it in person. If it’s the sort of thing that would catch him off guard, then work it into the back end of some other visit to his office that had a positive outcome. You’ll be able to see the reaction and gauge body language that an email just can’t convey.

How long have you been there? Do you want informal feedback or something more formal?

I think as long as you frame it in a "I'm just curious and want to make sure there isn't anything on my end I need to do for reviews" and not a "why hasn't my partner done it yet" it is an okay question. But I general I feel like this is something the firm and the partner are responsible for, not you. Your job at this stage is to just do good work!

Going back to work Jan 4 and my 3 month old won’t take a bottle. We’ve tried since she was 1.5 months and she just holds the bottle nipple in her mouth but she doesn’t suck.

For now, I’m ok with breastfeeding while working, but just in case with meetings and whatnot, it’d just be awesome if my husband could feed her.

Any advice? Is it possible to get baby on a feeding schedule that I could just put on my Google calendar as “pumping” time?

I’m planning on leaving my firm at the end of the year. Is it normal for a recruiter to want to know word for word how your interview went? For context I have had a few interviews with this recruiter where I was first to interview and made the final round but didn’t get an offer. I am now concerned that the recruiter sends me first then uses my feedback to better prepare other candidates... I don’t feel like I can trust the recruiter...

Hi all! I am a lawyer with a decade of global experience (based out of New Zealand and working with counterparts across the world). I started out as a Barrister (trial attorney) and then moved into government with a stint in a startup in between. Recently moved to the USA and trying to get a job while I study the bar. I’m curious if there are others here who migrated to the USA? I’m having a hard time getting anyone to take me & my experience seriously here!

TM litigation/TTAB: generally, I know you can't offer your own witness's discovery deposition testimony as evidence at trial except in certain circumstances (e.g., the witness is unavailable, need to complete the record in fairness etc.).

But can you attach your witness's prior dep. testimony as evidence (exhibit) via a SJ motion or opposition to a SJ motion even if none of the exceptions apply?

I'd appreciate input from seasoned lit professionals on here. Thanks!

Small law compensation discussion: What is your compensation with YOE and region/city? I am an equity partner at a small firm with 12 YOE and am making $110-140K depending on the year, with a nice benefits package probably worth at least $30K/year and a good WLB. I am underpaid compared to at least two of my partners but am not yet in a position to negotiate more shares.

(But I am wondering if I am grossly underpaid as I see folks in here making $300-350K with half my experience and I am 🤯)
