Iâd say choose on the basis of the people you met over perceived prestige on Fishbowl. It will drive your long term success and happiness.
But, and I hate to negotiate against us - if youâre the type that values prestige over people, Kearney probably isnât the nest place for you.
Rising Star
Yeah that's understandable
Kearney experience will be the most like MBB. It has the widest variety of practice areas. As noted they have a lot of strength in ops and procurement but have a presence pretty much every where. Itâs also a true partnership and not associated with an accounting firm. Anecdotally Iâve met the most ex Kearney people at BCG. They all said the culture was great. Iâve also seen us go head to head with them on proposals more than the others.
Iâm not as familiar with LEK but my understanding is theyâre strong in a few areas but have little to no presence in others. Working on multiple projects as a junior person sounds awful for WLB and for delivery though.
Iâd rank EYP and S& last because theyâre part of big 4 and all that entails.
BCG2 tell us how is operations and procurement and sourcing work close to MBB work as you are saying.
Chief
Kearney is the easy choice, especially if you liked the people. Just donât align to SOP and donât do ops work. We have all practice areas so you can avoid it if you want to.
Plus private partnership not connected to B4 means a lot less headache (personal investing, expense budgets, etc)
Rising Star
Thank you chief
In life sciences,
LEK > Strategy& > EYP > Kearney
Congrats OP. All great companies.
In supply chain operations, Kearney would be top. But in any other industry, they would not be.
Agree I'm in the health practice and lots of experienced hires from competitors want to leave in less than a year. Really trash firm if it isn't operations or supply chain
Kearney supply chain, ey-p / lek for pe stuffs, lek for ls, strategy& for closest to mbb without being mbb. Wlb / exit opps / lateral hiring likely similar unless some specific industry niche
Rising Star
Thank you âșïž
Really depends on what you want. Kearney culture is probably the best, LEK comp is probably the best (though Iâve heard K has ramped up their comp recently and are closer to LEK). LEK is good at PE and LS. K is good at operations, but their industry practices are quite improved as well. Their TMT practice is really on the rise these days. EY-P for me is the third of the 4th, and honestly S& is last by some distance for me, not even a competition tbh.
This is my own perception though so donât come at me S&, though the more you may the worse I may think of you đđ
Rising Star
Very helpful thanks đ
LEK and S& for prestige
LEK for pay
S& and K for WLB / culture
EYP, imo, performs worse than them all.
I disagree. I do t think S& is close to other 3 in terms of performance or prestige. WLB yes
S& by brand value
curious in terms of brand value if OW > S& or the other way around?
LEK or S& probably top for all the reasons you mention
Rising Star
Thank you âșïž
Manager in TMT that came in as an MBA hire if you want to chat. We do a lot more than just LS
Rising Star
Sure thanks will reach out if need be
LEK, Kearney are fine.
I still donât trust big 4 management. Look at how Monitor ended up under Deloitte.
Agreed. However, S& is and will always remain distinct from the rest of PwC. S& management, while eager to collaborate appropriate and hand off execution work to our PwC counter parts, are vehemently against dissolving S&
Strategy& is big 4. Period. Thatâs how all (in my experience of 4 years) our our clients call us - most recruiters too.
Also very mixed bag in term of people. Some very low quality hires recently, people pushed up / promoted because of âdiversityâ needs, and a Russian roulette when it gets to working with partners (many are toxic in FS). My honest experience. Iâd avoid.
For context, a high performing colleague joined from Kearney and left after 6 months saying âyou guys are nutsâ
How is WLB at Kearney, have heard of people working super long hours anecdotally
Iâd do Kearney for sure
Rising Star
Reasons?
Why go 4th tier when you could come to Deloitte?

Daddy D needs visa sponsorship đ„ș
S& and then Kearney in terms of exit opps / brand value
S& or LEK for everything but WLB
Rising Star
Oh đ€
For general strategy / brand value / exit opps, I'd say S&.
For specific specialties, others are stronger, but on brand strength alone, probably:
Kearney
LEK
EY-P

Waiting for that S& offer đđŒ
I think it depends on the type of work you want to do most and how you value incremental pay vs hours, especially when it comes to bonus.
Do you know your answers to these as it will help with the decision?
Note that LEKâs post MBA job is the most different from the others because of their model - you manage people more quickly and will be on multiple projects sooner which I think is a bad thing but admit itâs an unfair perspective since I havenât done it.
Rising Star
I was thinking the opposite
Because I have more exposure to cases in a shorter time, it's beneficial to me
I'm not really focusing on the $ for now, just looking at growth in the next 3-5 years
Follow the money. Everything else is a wash

Can't disagree on the last statement S&2

What would the exit opportunities be like for strategic ops?
