I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.

Take the high road. Always. Respond factually, have written correspondence to cover yourself in case of escalations, don’t get sucked into arguments, treat their rude messages on a pure merit/objective basis and respond accordingly. If their complaints are valid but it’s just in the messaging, respond with self deprecating humor to calm them down. If their complaints are invalid, respond with data and disagree. If they’ve not set expectations and are creating last moment fire drills, just firmly tell them that you are happy to do xyz item as long as they’ve clearly set expectations beforehand and planned appropriately.
If they are berating you in public, just ask them to take a moment to compose themself and clarify the ask again and that you are happy to help them. (May come across as a bit of a power move, so don’t do this too often)
If inspite of all this they are a-holes to you, just go around them and tell their boss you have tried to take the high road but this is the situation you find yourself in and would appreciate it if they can help.
How is the Director and the Partner? Rude manager is a dog with no teeth. Directors and partners drive the culture of the firm.
Managers contribute significantly more to individual employee engagement than directors and partners. Directors and partners may drive the culture of the larger firm, but the day to day of OP is more connected to the manger level
Give them in the moment feedback and tell them they are rude!

I was thinking about it but it seems that it can be an actual option :)
Passive aggressively. That’s the best solution to every conflict.
