How’s compensation for IB compare between NY and Chicago/other cities? Given COL difference, aren’t you paid “more” outside of NYC?

I have 13 years in IT experience (software devlopment, database management), Bachelors in Information Technology, AWS certified developer, Python certified (PCAP). I have experience developing in C, Python, Csharp in enterprise environments and IoT.


I’m currently a Data Engineer in DFW Texas and making $120k/year. No bonuses. I use AWS, MySQL, Bash, and Python everyday in my current role.

Alright my fellow fish I need advice. My last two jobs have been in a very specialized non-lucrative area of law. My state Bar is hiring senior attorneys for their Lawyer Regulation and Enforcement Department. What interests me is that it get me back into litigating (my current role is administrative) and it is a state job with competitive pay and good benefits. How hard is everyone pushing their corporate clients to authorize nonresident assignees whose only 2020 US compensation was the value of their 2019 tax preparation?
My clients are pushing back on it this year, and I can't say I blame them. If I were in their shoes, I'd rather take the risk of not filing than the expense of filing again. From my own point of view, I don't really want to spend my time on such returns, either, even if the revenue and easy return are nice.
