PTO is respected as long as it is communicated/scheduled in advance. Pre-covid, summers were definitely slower due to clients (both corporate and PE) taking more vacation during the summer months. That is not to say you absolutely will not have some busy weeks but definitely would have enough quiet weeks, especially for seniors and first year managers.

Yes for PTO. FDD doesn't really have any set busy season. When a deal is live you will be busy most likely.
On average, summer isn’t quite as busy as winter — but can still be very busy when you’re on a deal.
PTO generally gets protected as long as it’s booked far enough in advance and you’re proactive about communicating it (like, to the point of being annoying about it) to your team (and client depending on your role), and make sure there’s coverage from others.
Thank you, generally speaking, whenever you are on a deal it’s always busy? Are there deals where you work non busy season hours?
Agree with the above. There’s also a lot of “hurry up and wait” — for example, maybe you crank all day Monday and Tuesday to pull together an agenda and datapack for a Thursday meeting (send off to client Tuesday night so they can prepare responses to your questions, etc). Wednesday could be slow.
FDD is highly unpredictable. A few deals could kick off and there goes your summer lol. I would book PTO and make sure your team know and just take it ...
