I am considering a career change from BigLaw to a claims specialist position with an insurance career, as I have tweens at home and can’t be forever running to court appearances and depositions post-COVID. Is this a career-killing move (i.e. I’ll never be able to practice law again, either for a firm or in-house)? What about my colleagues with whom I am working on cases at my firm? Do I leave them to handle those cases without me for the sake of attaining work-life balance in my own life?

Just got hit with bad news that I likely have Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Being in healthcare, I feel like I took it very laid back. Seems like I should be more upset than I am but I’m not. Anyone else in healthcare feel this way when/if they get bad news affecting their own health

22, healthy, single, M. Should I really max my HSA? I completely understand the triple tax savings but my thought process is I don’t think I’ll have a large med expense for a while. I know, I know, I know anything could happen but the likelihood is pretty low rn and I don’t want to lock this money up for solely health costs when I rather be saving for a house down payment or continued education. I still plan to contribute to it, but should I really max it out at my age??

Maybe some perspective might be of use to me. I’m transitioning out of the service and I’ve positioned myself decently to be competitive in the market. I’ve got two offers from great companies. Biotech and Healthcare, both on the Human Capital Team as an Employee Relations Consultant. I have a graduate degree pursuing a Doctorate, LSSBB, ScrumMaster, SPHR, and PMI-ACP certified. I know this is personal and dependent, but what should I be considering as a commensurate salary?

I’m a Consultant at a boutique firm with around 2 YOE making 85k base 99k TC aiming for a promotion at the end of this year to SC. Based on the comp survey, current market rate, and great reviews/feedback, I want 120-125k. Is this a reasonable ask? I am assuming they will offer me some around 115k but I’ve seen the comp at other companies and I love/excel at my job. I’d like to stay here b/c I really enjoy the benefits but will leave in a heartbeat if I get the comp I want elsewhere.
