Curious what other APMMs have to say.
I’ve just joined 2 months ago from consulting and work/team have been great so far. Not sure about longer term factors like career progression/politics.
Oh the fixed promos are defo true. They make it super clear that most promote in 2-2.5y even though in APAC many people come in with 1-3YoE and are generally high performers
I joined after 1.5 years at Deloitte as a BA. Have since been at G for almost 4 years, now an L4 PMM (hopefully soon L5).
Curious to what you’ve heard … G definitely has its fair share of politics (aka if you have Directors & VPs in your corner, you’ll rise faster), but I find that true in any industry.
It’s harder and harder to get in and not always with good trade offs. The role is fun if you like your rotation, but it can also be a huge mismatch. Also, not all APMMs convert to full time PMMs (no headcount) so those have 45 days to look for other roles or else they’re out…
OP, I see some aggressive networking start beforehand to mitigate the impact of this and reduce odds. Otherwise, people are preparing accordingly, networking with teams outside their own to prevent getting caught off guard.
Would you be able to explain the difference between the APMM and APMM Strategy & Operations role?
