So, a buddy from golf group died yesterday from a heart attack. Have perspective.

Been through it all and I learned that the daily stuff that stressed me out was meaningless.

Show up. Work hard. That is all you can control.

I’m So sorry for your loss. But thank you for sharing perspective and helping us all remember that the little stuff is all bs. Even if it feels huge at the time.

I’ve been getting pounded from the very first day I showed up to my firm. Midnight is early.

Sending encouragement from afar! Had a closing scheduled today that almost tried to fall apart, BUT a few mini heart attacks later, it all came together! Nothing like some adrenaline to keep life exciting, right?🥴

Getting absolutely destroyed today. Booked a vacation starting tomorrow and it looks like I will be leaving here at maybe 3 am for my “relaxing break” ... on top of my other work, my senior told me to “take a glance at just one document” before I leave today. I just glanced at it right now, at 7 PM. It is 300 pages long. Fml.

Rough. I hope you get to actually relax a bit on your vacation.

Hey all! Need a couple book recs for an upcoming beach trip.

Looking for a great non-fiction, relating to travel or world history (not just one moment in time). Could also be about the marketing world or memoirs of a business leader kinda thing.

Fiction wise I also like fantasy, paranormal, and romance. Some fave book series are the Black Gryphon from Mercedes Lackey, Game of Thrones, and From Jamaica Lane series. Similar books?

I don’t have funds to invest, but I do have my skill set. I’d love advice on how to start this conversation and also the structure request. I don’t know where to start.

Currently interviewing for a GC role at a crypto-focused hedge fund. They’re mostly focused on VC deal experience, but would prefer someone with some compliance experience. My background is in M&A and Capital Markets, so I have little-to-no crypto-fund compliance experience. I’d like to show them I’m serious about learning though. Anyone know of a good way for me to get some quick, relevant experience? Maybe a course, certificate program or other training I could enroll in to bolster my resume

I feel totally blindsided by the interview I just had. I talked informally with Partner 1 before the interview and was told the position would be in one of the firm’s satellite offices. Then, during an interview with Partner 1 and Partner 2, Partner 2 mentioned that I’d have to move to the state where the firm is headquartered because he believes face-time is really important for training/mentoring. I have no plans to move and really hope this wasn’t all a huge waste of time.

Is it reasonable to be expected to spend 20-30 non-billable hours a month checking your paralegal’s work? (i.e. summarizing hundreds of records and bills). The partner said he “didn’t use paralegals” at his previous firm and eating the time is an “investment in yourself.” Is this common?

I am looking to leave my very small law firm firm and considering going to a much larger firm. I have some clients that were brought in by other partners but I am deeply entrenched in their work. It would not be easy for another lawyer to get up to speed, but the client contact is technically with another lawyer and I am working with that lawyer also on the file. I also have one client where we could really use some more bodies on the file. More in comments.
