What I love about this job is the impact that I can do to people. I am able to help them terms of their welfare. Also, being able to pay my bills.

No two days are the same (this can get old sometimes too)

There are repetitive things but there’s always something new too. New employee relations issue, new payroll issue, new compliance or reporting to be done. Those types of things change up.

What I love most about my job is the variety of tasks that I am responsible for. It keeps things interesting.

Do you mean aside from the pay? Hahaha! I think it would be the fact that it keeps me on my toes.

The only thing I look forward to is organizing team building activities. It's the easiest and most fun job among all my responsibilities as a generalist. Lol.

I don't understand why people in TCS are so scared of their managers. Just for sake of ratings and pay band people have made this organisation morally corrupt. I have been working since 2 years in TCS took transfer within 1 month of joining. Switched 3 project in 2 years worked on my conditions 9 hours means 9 hours don't give a damn whether people will like it or not. And I can proudly say that because of this reason I got targetted many times but my Personal & Professional Life is balanced.

I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!

Is anyone familiar with ESOPs?

Background: I worked at a company from July 2017-May 2015; they instituted a ESOP in late 2007. I need to confirm this part: payout begins 5 years after you leave (for me, that would have been May 2020). I am looking to go back as a part-time contractor (20 hours a week) from Sept 1-December 17, 2021.

Will this impact my ESOP payout if I go back as a temp/contractor?

Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)

I already have the SHRM-SCP. . would it be a value add to go for the SPHR as well?

Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. My heart is telling me PHR, my mother in law (an HRBP) is telling me to go with SHRM, as it’s more widely recognized, more established and a larger network in general. I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture
