The bill seems reasonable to secure voting and was balanced in its approach.
Well, for one thing it prevents voting while properly fed and hydrated, which in turn may speed up the process. That’s an obvious win.
I’m glad they didn’t move forward with requiring an excuse to vote by mail, which is secure and definitely my preferred method of voting. I think it’s dumb that you’re not allowed to pass out food/water to people standing in line. You can find a way to make sure the people passing it out are not representing and promoting a candidate.
So I understand the idea of avoiding bribery, but does anyone think that someone who is willing to stand in line for hours is choir to vote based on which side gave him or her water?
It’s technically correct for the ethics chair to say “this bill contains content important to all Georgians,” but it doesn’t mean it’s a positive impact. That’s really just a way to sidestep that it’s not ethical
