Having someone mansplain the law is already aggravating. It’s much worse when it comes from the business people who maybe took an intro to legal concepts course in undergrad. I can never get those three hours of my life back. It’s wine o’clock.

Biglaw moms, how far along were you when you disclosed your pregnancy to your firm, and to whom and in what order did you tell? (Partners, HR, other associates?)

Does anyone have experience with workday? My status was “in process” forever and changed to “Completed” with no word from HR. Did they reject me and not even bother to tell me? Seems kind of rude and strange after multiple rounds of interviews.

Weird question. Got an offer months ago for a job abroad (not in my country of choice) and turned it down due to the low salary and not being in Europe. I started a new role in NYCsince I got that job offer in a large firm (from a small firm in a small town), started 3 months ago, and I absolutely hate it. Not sure whether I should try this small firm abroad for a change in pace. The new firm swears, “if you ever work past 5 pm here, there’s something seriously wrong. We don’t believe in that.”

Don’t want to call out of work but can’t fathom working today 💔. Lucky I’m finally in house. Left partner of 2Y yesterday. Always had jealousy issues (her thinking I chose friends over her, her isolating me from friends to have me all to herself) and I finally said enough is enough. Final straw was her throwing a glass of water in my face when fighting. She keeps begging me to come home and says she’ll change. Hard not to go back. Never thought I’d be 32, heartbroken, and on sisters spare room.

I’ve been in the insurance defense field for years but recently received an offer to transition to litigation coverage defense. The hours seem to be more reasonable but I would appreciate any input from attorneys who have made this transition, positive or negative.
